Wells Gray Writers’ Circle

Sandra Holmes

The Wells Gray Writers’ Circle is an eclectic group of people nurturing each other individually and collectively as they enjoy the process of learning through writing. Together, they have proudly published six Collected Works and one Special Edition. The Special Edition, published July 2020, grew out of the challenging times brought on by the COVID 19 pandemic. The Special Edition is a compilation of stories of courage and resilience as well as various other writings offered for entertainment.

Meetings are informal. At times they challenge each other to write on common themes. At other times they may create collaborative stories. Always they listen to those who want to read short pieces of writing for constructive criticism. They all participate in what-ever way suits us. Ideas and exchanges are mixed with a cuppa and a snack to create an enjoyable time together.

The Writers’ Circle continues to be grateful for the support of the Wells Gray Community Forest Corporation who, in 2014 granted funds to the Wells Gray Country Seniors Society to support the publication of the first collected works of the Wells Gray Writers’ Circle. Six times they have published books using this grant money, sold them and recovered the funds for the next publication. The Wells Gray Community Forest Corp granted WGCSS further funds to assist with editing the special edition.

The Writers Circle thanks the Wells Gray Country Seniors Society for their invaluable support.

And thanks to the Clearwater Public Library staff for their warm welcome and assistance with all things reading and writing. They thank our many readers who have purchased our books, enjoyed the stories and shared the books with others.

All are welcome to join us at the Seniors Room at Dutch Lake Community Centre at 2:00 pm on the first and third Thursday each month.
